Cartas que não lês.
Queimo-as, às vezes.
Com as minhas próprias mãos,
Com o fogo que me consome
pelas cartas que te escrevo.
Monday came like an underwater strike
Smooth and steady,
its harpoon,
Took me up for a ride
On Tuesday I saw the light of the sun
Surfacing the sea
But I kept doubting its reflection
It seemed dubious to me
Wednesday I finally gathered the courage
To take a deep breath
Closed my eyes and prayed
"Is this all over yet?"
Thursday I just couldn't believe it
I was floating, well alive
I could already see the shore
Blissfully waiting for me to arrive
On Friday I finally reached the sand
No castaways to be seen
They were already up on the hill
For their souls to be swept clean
Saturday breezed and Sunday came
I closed my eyes
wishing it wasn't so
But Monday came, yet again,
And on the ocean I stand alone
(so...here we go again)
Make way, make way
For the king
He carries no crown but shows his wounds like trophies
From an ancient battle no one asked him to fight
He wears his heart up his sleeve
(such a beautiful euphemism…he just can’t keep from us all that he feels inside)
And his cloak down to the ground
"Shoot him now, shoot him down”
His honesty hurts our eyes
His perseverance appalls us
Make way, make way
For the king
Cut down his dreams, bring down his house
“How dare he lead us into freedom?”
A long time ago...I was in love
With the sun.
With the way it kissed my skin, how it lit up my smile.
The way it cast my shadow, stretched out beyond my reach.
With the different shades it wore throughout the day,
from a bright blinding white to a torrid dying red.
A long time ago... I was in love with the sun.
But then I moved to a place made of clouds.
A long time ago...I was in love
With the flowers.
With the way they bloomed where they weren't supposed to.
With the way they needed my care and my voice, once in a while.
With the wilderness of their shapes, colours, smells.
A long time ago...I was in love with the flowers.
But then I moved to a place made of concrete.
A long time ago...I was in love.
With you.
With the truth in your words and the way you made me sigh.
With your touch in every inch of me.
With the way we heard the same song.
A long time ago...I was in love with you.
But then I moved to a place made of nothing.
But all that was a long time ago.
Now I know that...
...the sun still shines above the clouds (and I only need to fly high to reach it)
...the flowers still bloom (in windowsills and on the cracks on the pavement)
...from nothing came everything (and I ended up smiling more than before).
Vejo o sol subir e descer o muro à minha frente. No seu percurso diário, apanha o autocarro quase sempre à mesma hora. Uma vez por outra chega atrasado um ou dois minutos, mas não o suficiente para que eu perca o espectáculo.
Tenho lugar cativo.
Assisto ao desfile, ao filme e ao torneio.
Durmo, acordo, sonho acordada.
Vejo-te as mãos, os olhos, a boca.
Anseio o teu toque, o teu olhar, o teu sabor.
